John Doe Assaults, Frank Boy of East Glacier sentenced to 41 months in prison

In a sobering turn of events, Frank David Francis Boy, a 25-year-old resident of East Glacier, has been sentenced to 41 months in prison for two separate and violent assaults on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation. The sentencing, handed down on January 10 by Chief U.S. District Judge Brian M. Morris, comes after Boy pleaded guilty in 2023 to assault with a dangerous weapon and assault resulting in serious bodily injury for distinct incidents.

The court documents reveal the disturbing details of the first assault that occurred on September 18, 2022. Boy, along with friends, was consuming alcohol in East Glacier before embarking on a drive that eventually led them to a house party in Browning. It was at this gathering that a dispute unfolded between Boy and the victim, identified as John Doe, after an arm-wrestling match escalated into a wrestling confrontation.

Despite being asked to leave the premises, Boy resisted, leading to his forcible removal by companions. However, as they walked away, Boy abruptly turned back towards Doe and initiated another confrontation. In a shocking display of violence, Boy stabbed Doe multiple times in the shoulder and back areas. The severity of the injuries necessitated Doe’s immediate transportation to a Great Falls hospital for urgent medical attention.

The legal proceedings culminated in Boy’s guilty plea, and the subsequent sentencing reflects the gravity of the offenses committed. The 41-month prison term will be followed by three years of supervised release, underscoring the judicial commitment to accountability and community safety.

As the Blackfeet Indian Reservation comes to terms with the aftermath of these brutal assaults, the sentencing offers a measure of justice for the victims and their families.

The incidents serve as a stark reminder of the challenges faced by communities, emphasizing the importance of legal measures to address violence and ensure the well-being of all residents.
