On Parramatta Road in Five Dock, Sydney, there was a large traffic incident that involved a multi-vehicle pileup that involved a truck and numerous automobiles. This mess created a great deal of disturbance and resulted in multiple people being sent to the hospital.
All of the eastbound lanes and one of the westbound lanes at the crossroads with Great North Road were shut down as a result of the accident that took place on Friday at approximately 4:30 p.m.
It is possible that as many as nine people have been taken to hospitals for evaluation and treatment as a direct result of the incident. Both the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and the Westmead Hospital are currently providing initial medical care to those who have sustained injuries.
However, given the seriousness of the accident, there are signs that additional people might be taken to other hospitals during the course of the investigation.
Due to the severity of the collision, Parramatta Road has been closed in both ways between Frederick Street in Ashfield and Harris Road in Five Dock. This closure applies to both directions. Numerous traffic problems have arisen in the region as a direct result of this shutdown.
With the closure of Great North Road from Queens Road to Parramatta Road, traffic on Parramatta Road is being diverted through Harris Street. Additionally, traffic on Parramatta Road is being rerouted through Harris Street.
