Yesterday, I became aware of the passing of a lovely individual who was also one of my closest friends. Despite my best efforts, I am still unable to wrap my head around it. Our time spent working together spanned a considerable amount of years.
He is the primary reason that I became interested in collecting very old antique clocks and that I learned how to repair and restore them. He was also the primary reason that I became a collector.
Both of us had a near-obsessive interest in antiques, particularly ones that were from a time period that was well before the year 1900. I held him in high regard and revered him since he was a large encyclopaedia of information.
There is something that I will miss for the rest of my life, and that is the fact that I will no longer be able to spend the hours that we spent visiting, mending, and investigating.
Almost all of the conversations that we had on a regular basis were conversations about the history of antique furniture and the decorating procedures and methods that are historically accurate.
I will miss hearing from you on the phone. As for me, I could go on and on for hours. Everyone who knew the man was treated with care, and he was a gentleman in every sense of the word. His absence will be keenly felt, and he will never be forgotten. Mr. Gary Johnson, may you rest in peace. Without your presence, things will never be the same again.
