“It was something small and simple, but it was beautiful and just what I needed,” said Cindy Baldwin, a friend of the Haight family and a neighbour of the Haight family. In order to assist in the healing of her community, she was one of the event organisers.
The gathering of the community took place on Thursday evening at six o’clock in the gym of Enoch Elementary School. Tausha Haight, her five children, and her mother, Gail Earl, were all brutally killed inside their home in 2023.
The memorial event was held in honour of all of them. Baldwin expressed his opinion by saying, “I have never experienced anything like it, and I hope that I never do again.” She was the one who lived next door to the Haight family and she recalled seeing police tape blocking entrance to their street. She had to deliver the news to her friends who were curious about what was going on.
Every single person in that neighbourhood was affected by the terrible event, including the younger children who were friends with the Haight children.
“The raw emotion of yourself being in crisis and trauma, and then your children being in crisis and trauma, and then your husband and your neighbours and friends, and it was just like this entire community,” Baldwin continued. “It was just like this whole community.” In addition to taking the lives of the other seven members of the family, Michael Haight, who was married to Tausha and the father of their five children, also committed suicide.
