It is with a heavy heart and deep sorrow that we share the news of the passing of our beloved former chairman, Paul Robertshaw. Many of you will recognize Paul from his dedicated service as a scorer for both the first and second teams at Hedgetop.
His contributions to our community were immeasurable, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. Paul peacefully departed this world on Wednesday, 13th December 2023, at Calderdale Royal Hospital at the age of 69.
Paul Verney, as he was known to many, was not merely a chairman; he was a pillar of strength, a loyal friend, and a cherished member of our community.
His commitment to the sport and his unwavering support for the teams at Hedgetop were emblematic of his passion and dedication. The news of his passing has left a void that can never be filled, and we collectively mourn the loss of a remarkable individual.
Born into the loving family of the late Geoff and Joyce Verney, Paul shared a special bond with his late sister, Jenny, and his surviving sister, Wendy. He was not just a son and brother; he was a source of love and support for his family, providing strength and laughter in times of joy and solace in moments of sorrow. His impact extended beyond his immediate family, touching the lives of many as a good friend, confidant, and pillar of support.
