It is with both sorrow and gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the peaceful passing of Russell R. Marshall, who reached the remarkable age of 100. Russell departed this world on Wednesday afternoon, November 1, 2023, surrounded by the care and comfort of Heartland House, CBRF. Russell, born on January 29, 1923, in the Town of Deerfield, Waushara County, was the beloved son of William E. and Jennie (Eager) Marshall.
On April 2, 1944, he embarked on a lifelong journey of love and companionship, marrying Charlotte A. Ellis in Coloma. Together, they built a legacy that spans generations, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know them.
A pillar of the community, Russell dedicated himself to various aspects of service. He was a devoted member of the Hancock United Church of Christ since 1957, contributing his time and wisdom by serving on the church council for several years.
His commitment extended beyond the church, as he selflessly served as a volunteer fireman in Hancock for an astounding 59 years. Russell also lent his expertise to the Village Board, Library committee, and Deerfield Cemetery Board, embodying the spirit of community and civic duty.
Beyond his civic engagements, Russell was a man of joy and celebration. His love for dancing mirrored his vibrant spirit, and his enthusiasm for life was infectious. He cherished moments spent with family and friends, creating a tapestry of memories woven with laughter, love, and shared experiences.
