Dennis “Sonny” Hagen Obituary, Dennis Hagen Has Died

On January 2, 2024, the community of Goodridge bid farewell to a pillar of strength, love, and family, as Mr. Dennis “Sonny” Hagen peacefully passed away at the age of 75. His departure leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his legacy of love, resilience, and cherished memories will endure through the ages. Sonny is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Elsie, with whom he shared a love that stood the test of time. Their journey together was marked by mutual support, laughter, and the countless shared moments that define a lifelong partnership. Sonny’s love extended to his children, Melody (Ben) Kwiatkowski and Mitchel (Lorena) Hagen, who will forever carry the lessons of his wisdom and the warmth of his affection.

Seven grandchildren, Darcy (Dana) White, Kyle (Angelina) Kwiatkowski, Josie Kwiatkowski (Jake), Kaydence Hagen (Tanner), Jorja Hagen, Dalton Hagen, and Holly Hagen, were the lights of Sonny’s life. His presence at family gatherings, celebrations, and everyday moments created a tapestry of shared experiences that will be woven into the fabric of their lives.

Welcoming the newest generation, Sonny was a proud great-grandfather to Rye White. His legacy continues to unfold through the joy and laughter of the youngest member of the family, a testament to the enduring impact of his love.

Sonny’s journey was shaped by the bonds of family, and his siblings held a special place in his heart. He is remembered by his sisters Eileen Smigielski, Edith (George) Lukinuk, Genie (Doug) Gardner, Liz (Claude) Mathiot, and brothers Lawrence (Bev) Hagen, Barry Hagen, Keith Hagen, and Kenny Hagen. The camaraderie and shared memories among the siblings created a foundation of support and affection that enriched Sonny’s life.

The Hagen family tree includes sisters-in-law Louise Onciul and Judy (Brian) Karpyshyn, who were not just relatives but cherished members of Sonny’s extended family. Nieces and nephews were recipients of his guidance, kindness, and affection, forming connections that transcended mere family ties.

Sonny was predeceased by his parents, Lawrence and Bertha Hagen, his brother Donny (Linda) Hagen, and brothers-in-law Bud Smigielski and Harvey Onciul. In-laws Johnny and Esther Hogetveit, who have embarked on their own heavenly journey, were part of the family tapestry that Sonny held dear.

A Celebration of Sonny’s Life is scheduled for Saturday, January 13, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at the Goodridge Jubilee Hall in Goodridge. This gathering will be an opportunity for friends, family, and well-wishers to share stories, reminisce about the joyous moments, and pay tribute to a life well-lived. Sonny’s life was more than the sum of its years; it was a narrative of love, resilience, and the enduring strength of family bonds.

His impact will be felt in the laughter of family gatherings, the echoes of shared stories, and the warmth of his presence that lingers in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
