George Frengos Obituary Ontario, (1963 – 2023) Visitation and Funeral Arrangement

It is with profound sadness that we share the heartbreaking news of the sudden passing of George Frengos on December 26, 2023. George, a devoted husband, loving father, son, brother, uncle, and dear friend, left us after a joyous Christmas celebration with his loved ones. His departure leaves an indescribable void in the hearts of those who knew him, as his kindness, compassion, and larger-than-life spirit will be deeply missed.

George, the beloved husband of Melissa McGrinder and devoted father of Hanalei Frengos, was more than just a family man; he was a cornerstone in the lives of many. Born to Bill and Peggy Frengos, George was a thoughtful son, a loyal son-in-law to Patricia and the late Patrick, a caring brother to Tricia Maxwell and Tom Frengos, and an entertaining brother-in-law to a host of family members. His authentic and engaging presence extended to his nieces and nephews, creating cherished memories for Stephanie Maxwell, Cassie Maxwell, Patrick “Morris,” Monica, Steve, Mark, Marcy, and their children.

Aside from his family role, George was a dedicated and inspiring English teacher for over three decades, with over 20 years spent at Cameron Heights. His impact reached far beyond the classroom, touching the lives of students, past and present, who found inspiration in his passion and curiosity. George possessed a unique ability to understand people on a profound level, making them feel heard and valued.

Described as an insightful and rebellious spirit, George was a non-conformist who approached life with curiosity and determination. His advocacy for the underdog, philosophical engagement with life’s questions, and commitment to disrupting the status quo set him apart. Embracing the spirit of aloha, defined by “love, peace, compassion, and mutual understanding of respect,” George lived his life with generosity, empathy, kindness, and grace. His intellect, combined with a genuine interest in others, made him infinitely interesting and always interested.

George’s “work is dumb” philosophy reflected his belief in living life to the fullest, unapologetically and authentically. His love for family, loyalty to friends, and dedication to helping his students discover their best selves showcased his commitment to making a positive impact on the world. He was profoundly moved by his daughter’s courage and resilience, finding inspiration in music, art, literature, travel, adventure, and the boundless power of the human spirit.

The loss of George Frengos is not just a personal tragedy for his family and friends; it is a loss for the entire community. Affectionately known as the “Aloha Generator,” George’s magnetic force brought people together, creating connections that will be felt for years to come. His Lake Huron cottage, the companionship of his loyal pups River and Everest, and his love for exploration added layers to his vibrant personality.

To honor and celebrate George’s life, his family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, January 5th, 2024, at the Henry Walser Funeral Home in Kitchener. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 6th, 2024, followed by a reception at the funeral home. Interment at Parkview Cemetery in Waterloo will take place after the reception.

For those unable to attend in person, George’s family has generously extended an invitation to view his service online on the funeral home website on Saturday, January 6th, 2024, at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, a cause close to George’s heart.

As we come together to remember George Frengos, let us cherish the memories, the laughter, and the lessons he imparted. May his legacy of love, passion, and the spirit of aloha continue to inspire us all. George, you will be deeply missed, but your impact on our lives will endure forever.
