Betty Satterly Obituary, Betty Satterly Has Passed Away – Death

Betty June Kirby Satterly, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, peacefully entered her heavenly home on December 29, 2023. Born to the late Marion L. Davis and William Kirby, Betty leaves behind a legacy of unwavering faith, selfless love, and a profound impact on her community.

A devoted wife, Betty was the cherished partner of Harrison D. Satterly, who survives her. Throughout their journey together, Betty’s commitment to family and faith remained at the forefront of her life. Known affectionately as mom and nanny to her grandchildren, Betty’s love for the Lord shaped every aspect of her being.

Betty’s spiritual journey began at the First Freewill Baptist Church, where she was among the earliest members. For over 60 years, she stood as a proud and active member, contributing her time and energy to various church activities. Betty’s dedication extended to roles such as a retired Sunday school teacher, a participant in vacation Bible school, and a contributor to the bus ministry. Her service to the church community reflected her deep-seated belief in the power of faith and the importance of passing it on to future generations.

Beyond the church, Betty made a lasting impact on young lives as she worked tirelessly at South Green Elementary School cafeteria until her retirement in 2006. Her compassion and nurturing spirit weren’t confined to the church or school; Betty raised ten children of her own and provided loving care for her grandchildren, leaving an indelible mark on their lives.

The Satterly family farm was not only a place of livelihood but also a source of joy and togetherness for Betty. Alongside her husband, Betty dedicated herself to the farm, instilling in her family a profound appreciation for hard work and the land. Before her health declined, Betty found immense pleasure in gardening, canning foods and jams, and hosting large family gatherings. The family farm became a symbol of Betty’s values—nurturing, growth, and unity.

A voracious reader, Betty’s love for books was infectious. Many of her children and grandchildren inherited her passion for reading, a gift that transcends generations. Through literature, she shared the joy of discovery, imagination, and lifelong learning with her family.

Betty Satterly’s life was a testament to the enduring power of faith, the importance of family, and the beauty of a life well-lived. Her legacy will continue to thrive through the memories of those she touched and the values she instilled in her loved ones. As we bid farewell to Betty, we celebrate a life rich in love, service, and the profound impact she had on the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
