Authorities are investigating a heartbreaking incident in the affluent town of Dover, Massachusetts, which resulted in the loss of a family. The tragic event, suspected to be a case of “deadly domestic violence,” claimed the lives of a couple and their teenage daughter.
Dover police, responding to a 911 call at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, were alerted by a concerned relative who had visited the family. Upon entering the residence, they discovered the bodies of an adult male, an adult female, and their teenage daughter.
The victims were identified as Teena Kamal, 54; Rakesh Kamal, 57; and 18-year-old Ariana Kamal, a student at Middlebury College, according to Norfolk County District Attorney Michael Morrissey, who addressed the media on Friday.
While a firearm was found near Rakesh Kamal’s body, the exact cause and manner of the deaths are currently under investigation by the medical examiner’s office, Morrissey stated.
Morrissey emphasized that this tragic incident highlights the unfortunate reality that domestic violence can affect individuals across various economic and social backgrounds. He clarified that there were no prior reports of violence, domestic issues, or police involvement at the residence.
“There’s been no police reports, there’s been no problems, no domestic issues, no nothing at that house or in the entire neighborhood that I’m aware of,” Morrissey said. “This is very unfortunate and our heart goes out to the entire Kamal family on this terrible tragedy.”
While investigators are still in the early stages of their inquiry, they currently do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the Dover community related to these deaths.
“Although the investigation is at a very preliminary stage, the evidence available at this time does not indicate the involvement of any outside party but suggests that this is a deadly incident of domestic violence,” stated the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office. Dover is considered one of the wealthiest communities in the state.
Investigators diligently processed the crime scene throughout the night.
