‘Ronnie’ Palumbo, Ronald J. Palumbo LEXINGTON, South Carolina On July 7, 2017, Ronald J. “Ronnie” Palumbo Sr. passed away at the age of 74. He was surrounded by his family at the time of his passing.
Ron spent the majority of his life in Hamilton Township, New Jersey, until relocating to Florence, New Jersey, and then to Lexington, South Carolina, in 2013. Ron was born in Allentown, New Jersey, in 1943. The deaths of Ron’s parents, Joseph “Jim” Palumbo and Elizabeth “Betty” Johnson Palumbo, as well as his brother, Robert Palumbo, came before his own.
During his 37 years of marriage to Maria Colaneri Palumbo, Ron was a devoted husband. He was also a loving father to his children, Ronald J. Palumbo Jr. and his wife, Sandra Bobik Palumbo, Michael J. Palumbo, Allan J. Palumbo, Paula M. Washenberger and her husband, Chris Washenberger, and Elizabeth I. Zammarrelli and her husband, Samuel Zammarrelli III.
Marisa Palumbo, Tim Palumbo, Rowan Campbell, Samuel Zammarrelli IV, Joseph Zammarrelli, Daniel Washenberger, and Michael Zammarrelli were delighted to have him as their grandfather. He was also the grandfather of Rowan Campbell. In addition, Ron is survived by his brothers and their wives, Jimmy and Diane Palumbo and Gene and Carol Palumbo, as well as a large number of nieces and nephews.
He received a degree in business and accounting from Rider University after graduating from Hamilton High West in 1961. Ron was a graduate of both institutions. During his 45 years of experience, he was a certified public accountant who worked in private practice. As a coach in the Sunnybrae Little League, Lou Gehrig, and Babe Ruth Baseball Leagues, Ron was not only a member of the Hamilton Township Community but also an active participant in the community.
He was a member of the Hamilton Township Republican Club for a considerable amount of time. In addition to serving on the School Board, he was a member of the Hamilton Township Planning Board.
In addition to that, he served as an elected member of the Hamilton Township Council for a number of years. The Italian American Sportsman Club was a club that Ron had previously been a part of.
