We are saddened to inform you of the demise of Tommy Simon, a loving soul who resided in The Plains, Boyle, County Roscommon. It is with heavy hearts and profound regret that we make this announcement. The 21st of December, 2023 was the day that Tommy left this world. He passed away at home, surrounded by the love and affection of his loving family. He was a much-loved brother to Lydia and the adored son of Niamh (née Rattigan) and Frankie, who passed away.
He was also the son of Frankie. His mother, Niamh, who is inconsolable, his sister Lydia, his grandmother Peggy, his uncles, extended family, relatives, caregivers, neighbors, and a large number of friends will carry Tommy’s memories with them for the rest of their lives. The vacuum that his departure creates can never be filled, and his absence will be keenly felt by everyone who had the honor of getting to know him.
At Mahon’s Funeral Home in Boyle, relatives and well-wishers will have the chance to pay their respects between the hours of four and six o’clock on Saturday, December 23rd, when the deceased will be lying in repose.
The funeral mass for Tommy will be held at St. Joseph’s Church in Boyle on Tuesday, December 26th, beginning at noon. When the Mass is over, Tommy will be laid to rest in the peaceful grounds of Kileenan Cemetery, which is located in Knockvicar district.
While the family is going through this challenging period, they respectfully request that the house be kept completely private. For those who are unable to attend the Funeral Mass in person, it is possible to watch it live online at https://www.boyleparish.ie/web-cam/. Tommy was provided with great care throughout his life by the committed personnel at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin, Sligo University Hospital, and the Palliative Care Team.
The Simon and Rattigan families would like to convey their deepest thanks and gratitude to these individuals. During this difficult time, the family would also like to express their gratitude to friends, neighbors, and relatives who have continued to offer their support and prayers.
As a way of honoring Tommy’s memory, let us come together and pray for the peace of his soul. When he is embraced by the angels, may he experience the tranquility that lasts forever. Thank you.
