Reece Anthony Borel, a cherished son, brother, and friend, departed this world on December 14, 2023, at the young age of 20, and our hearts are heavy with grief as we share the news. Reece was welcomed into this world in the warm embrace of Penny Borel and Arthur Phillips Sr. on May 12, 2003, in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
The people who knew Reece were blessed to have him in their life because of his genuine spirit and charisma. Everyone he met was instantly captivated by his big heart and kind smile. One example of Reece’s inherent leadership abilities is the way he united and bonded members of the automotive club LA STEPPAS during his time as its founder and president.
Reece, a young man with a wide range of abilities, could do it all. Most recently, he worked at SPAR and started a new, exciting chapter in his career in the petrochemical industry. The joy and excitement that Reece brought to life and to learning were contagious. He was a proud 2022 graduate of Sulphur High School. Zeus and Ruby, Reece’s canines, were the center of his universe, and he loved them with all his heart. Penny Borel, his mother, and Arthur Phillips Sr., his father, are among the many people who will always remember the young man who made an unforgettable impact on their lives.
Reece leaves behind a large family: his grandparents Gwen Klein, Bill and Tena Walker, Loretta Young, Lena (Earlee), and Jerry Phillips, Jr.; a large number of aunts and uncles; nieces and nephews Roman Borel Jr., Maddilynn Borel, Gauge Borel, Ella Borel, Harmony Johnson; and his unborn child, Bianca Faye Borel. His siblings Roman, Heidi, Hannah (Twin), Courtney Griffin, Heidi, Arthur Phillips Jr., Jordan Cherry, and Iesha Phillips; and his great-grandmother Lois Landry.
After passing away, Reece will be reunited with his brother Hunter, grandfather Kenneth Vincent, uncles Earl Ray and Lee Roy Phillips Sr., and cousin Gavin Benoit in paradise. Sulphur, Louisiana’s Immaculate Conception Catholic Church will host a Christian burial Mass on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at 11:00 AM. On Wednesday, December 20, 2023, friends and family are invited to attend a visitation at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
A rosary will be said at 6:00 PM. At Johnson and Robison Funeral, visitation will be resumed on Thursday at 8:00 AM and will continue until the church departure at 10:30 AM. With the loving care of Johnson and Robison Funeral Home, Reece will be laid to rest at Lee Cemetery in Vinton.
The funeral ceremonies will be officiated by Fr. Tim Goodly, who will pray that Reece finds everlasting rest. May he find peace in the arms of God, loved and remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
