Shirley Anne Nevenzel, a beloved member of the Allegan, MI community, bid farewell to this world on December 10, 2023, at the age of 70. Her journey, marked by warmth, creativity, and devotion, touched the lives of many and left an indelible imprint on the hearts of those who knew her.
Born on May 19, 1953, in Allegan, Shirley was the daughter of the late Lloyd Gene and Leona Mae (Beck) Nevenzel. Her roots in the community ran deep, and she shared a special bond with the late Robbie Thompson, great friends with her father. Shirley found solace and community at Dunningville Reformed Church, where she was a cherished member.
Shirley’s professional journey was one of commitment and dedication, as she retired from Magna Donnelly after 31 years of service. In her kitchen, she transformed ingredients into delightful treats, sharing her passion for baking with loved ones. Her hands were equally skilled with a crochet needle, turning imagination into tangible creations.
The allure of travel and the joy of collecting beach rocks resonated with Shirley, reflecting her appreciation for the beauty of nature. Her genuine love extended to her nieces, nephews, and sister-in-law Linda, who affectionately called her Aunt Linda. Shirley’s warm and caring nature shone through as she made it a point to remember and celebrate the significant moments in their lives.
A devoted mother, Shirley’s greatest gift arrived on her birthday in 1992 when her son, Joshua Gene Nevenzel, entered the world. Their bond was a testament to the profound love between a mother and her child.
To honor Shirley’s memory, friends and family will gather at Dunningville Reformed Church on December 15, 2023, to pay their respects and celebrate her life. The funeral service will commence at 12:00 PM, followed by her interment at Brookside Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association or the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America, reflecting Shirley’s compassion and concern for others’ well-being. As Shirley Anne Nevenzel rests in eternal peace, her legacy of love, creativity, and kindness will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have been part of her life.
