Shirley Schultz Obituary, Passed Away At UK Bluegrass Hospice Center in Lexington, Kentucky

Shirley Irene Rasch Schultz’s passing is a tragedy. Everyone in the community loved her. On December 8, 2023, Shirley passed away at the UK Bluegrass Hospice Center in Lexington, Kentucky. Love, generosity, and selflessness were her last will. Elmer and Cora Sweet Rasch were Shirley’s parents; Cora passed away on September 25, 1941. From Burlington, Wisconsin, Sherri was born.

It was clear that her Christian faith was strong from her devotion to Christ and her activities at the Greensburg United Methodist Church. Shirley was very involved in the card ministry, Upwards basketball, and the United Methodist Women of Faith. Not satisfied with just going to services. Before her position as secretary and bookkeeper at Central Farmer’s Supply in Greensburg, Kentucky, Shirley was an executive secretary for Merks Cheese in Wisconsin.

Her selfless dedication to her patients and coworkers made her an asset to the auxiliary at Taylor Regional Hospital. Shirley was recognized as the 2023 Volunteer of the Year by Taylor Regional Hospital for her exceptional contributions. She had a profound affection for her loved ones, her neighbors, and all others. Her chocolate chip cookies and contagious love for everyone were beloved by Shirley’s grandchildren.

Shirley is survived by her in-laws from Salem, Wisconsin, Amanda Crane and Charles Schultz, and Dwight and Tiffany Schultz from Lebanon. Dean Frank Schultz, Shirley’s husband, passed away on May 7, 2019. She is survived by several friends, six granddaughters, and three great-grandchildren. On Friday, December 15, 2023, at 11 AM Central Time, the funeral service for Mrs. Shirley Schultz will be held at Greensburg United Methodist Church.

The Green County Memory Gardens will serve as the site of the funeral. Visiting hours at the Greensburg funeral home, Gupton-Landrum, will be Thursday, 5 to 8 PM Central Time, and Friday, 7 AM until the church ceremony, at the same location. A generous donation can be sent to the Greensburg United Methodist Church. Along with David P. Givens, pallbearers included Dustin, Jeremy, Chucky, Julie, Glen, and Miya Maki Crane.

As honorary pallbearers, David and Evelyn Givens, together with members of the Taylor Regional Hospital Auxiliary, will be present. Our lives would be incomplete without Mrs. Shirley Irene Rasch Schultz.

Let us rejoice in her life and keep in memory her happiness, generosity, and kindness, even as we grieve her passing. Your confidence in Greensburg’s Gupton-Landrum Funeral Home is greatly appreciated.
