It was on the property that his family owned in Blanchardville where he spent his childhood. After receiving his diploma from Blanchardville School in 1972, he was selected to be a part of the “first and finest” graduating class of the Pecatonica School system. A new school, Blanchardville School, has just been officially formed. Gary McCarville, who was in love with Muriel (Murt) McCarville, a resident of Hollandale, Wisconsin, tied the knot with her on May 31, 1975, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Hollandale, Wisconsin. Gary McCarville describes Muriel as the love of his life.
In the course of his employment at Zim’s Cheese, which lasted for a period of four years, he was able to obtain his accreditation as a cheesemaker. It was Gary and Murt who were responsible for renting out two separate farms in the area throughout their time together. They bought the Eidsmoe farm in Moscow township in May of 1980. The farm was located in Moscow township. A short distance to the north of Blanchardville is where you will find the farm. Gary and Murt farmed the property together in that spot until he built a new house on the edge of their farm, which is where they continue to live to this day. Gary and Murt currently reside in that house.
Gruenenfelder Construction is a company that specializes in the remodeling and construction of a huge number of new homes. In addition to building the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Blanchardville, Gary also formed Gruenenfelder Construction. After some time, he decided to switch careers and began working for Intercon installation in Madison, which is a firm that specialized in the installation of underground utility systems. Gary had the position of Shop Manager in the warehouse, where he was accountable for supplying tools and equipment to field employees located in different parts of the country.
After some time had passed, he went back to his hometown to become of assistance to his son Farron, who had only lately acquired the family farm. A collection of people hailing from Blanchardville, who include Jason (Kris) Halle, Jaxon, Cal, Lydia, and Cheyenne Gruenenfelder, in addition to Lacy (James) Ryder, Taylee, and Ace Gilbertson, who are from New Glarus.
In addition to his parents, who passed away in 2011, his father-in-law, LaVerne McCarville, passed away in 2002, his mother-in-law, Muriel McCarville, passed away in 2022, his brother Paul passed away in 2012, and his nephews Mike Gruenenfelder and Trevor Hendrickson passed away in 1996 and 1988, respectively. His parents passed away in 2011. In the course of his five years of service on the Pecatonica school board, Gary held the position of President for a single year. During this time, Gary was a member of the board. He was a member of the Blanchardville Fire Department for more than twenty-four years, during which time he held the positions of Secretary/Treasure and Emergency Medical Technician for a long amount of time.
He served as the Historian of the Knights of Columbus for a large amount of time. He maintained this job for a long period of time. It was in the realm of business that Gary found his true calling. After purchasing the former feed mill that was held by Zim’s Cheese and Quad Co. Coop, he went on to build a self-storage company. This was done in order to begin the process of establishing Quad County Rentals. at 2018, he opened Gary’s Service Station, which was situated at the Blanchardville Coop Oil Station, which had been shuttered for a considerable amount of time. There, he provided a service that was in dire need of being provided by members of the community in the area. In the course of his life, Gary has been dealt a few bad hands over the course of his existence. He received the news that he had prostate cancer in the year 2008. His ruptured brain aneurysm was of the grade 5 variety, and it occurred in November of 2010.
During the month of February in 2016, he was diagnosed with a second aneurysm that did not collapse. It was determined that he had ocular melanoma in the month of August 2019. Nevertheless, he was pretty persistent, exactly like his mother (Murt described him as being stubborn), and he preserved a very hopeful attitude and kept his chin up throughout the entire ordeal. He was a really resilient individual. With the help and prayers of everyone of his family and friends, he was able to make a remarkable recovery, and he was able to continue driving the tractor and combine.
