Saturday, December 2nd, was the day when our lovely father, Donnie Traufler, who was the most incredible guy we have ever known, went away quietly.
Despite the fact that our hearts are broken and the loss we feel is so tremendously huge, we are thankful that he was able to live such a long and complete life.
To love one’s father was to know him. devoted, generous, and kind, and always willing to assist anyone who is in need of assistance. He was there for us girls whenever we required anything. That very own Superman of ours.
“Dad was a strong, intelligent, and kind individual.” Always ready with a smart statement to make us laugh, you never fail to wow us.
He had an infinite number of talents, including the creation of stunning model-sized replicas out of wood (no kits were used; he built everything himself), ships and planes of the military, vintage railroads, and classic automobiles. When his friends came to visit, he would be delighted to tell them about the various craft and woodworking projects he was working on. Talking about the tales behind each piece that he had handcrafted offered him a great deal of happiness.
During his childhood, he was brought up with his older brother Mike and his younger sister Ginny, and they spent a significant number of summers together at their cherished Viola Lake. We are carrying on the legacy that Mike, Dad, and Ginny started by spending time at the lake with their children and educating the next generation what an incredible place it is. Now, we are doing the same thing for their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
When Dad was no longer able to take care of things on his own, Uncle Mike and a group of great lake friends quickly sprang in to assist him. Dad considered it a blessing that Uncle Mike lived across the street from him. Mike and his friends were always willing to provide a helping hand. For all of the assistance and care that you given to Dad, we will be eternally thankful to each and every one of you. One cannot express their gratitude in sufficient words.
Have a peaceful rest, Dad. Oh, we adore you.
It is anticipated that a memorial service will be held sometime in the latter part of spring or the early summer of 2024. To be provided at a later time are the specifics.
