Louise Turner Obituary, Louise Turner Has Died

The quiet demise of Louise H. Turner occurred on Wednesday, November 29, 2023. She was born on September 25, 1942, in Cairo, Georgia, to Myrtle Butler Hartley and the late Talmadge Alvin. She was and will always be a kind and loyal mother, grandma, and wife.

Her family and friends enjoyed her playful yet grounded demeanor. She honored the unwavering love of Christ and showed it with a kind understanding. She was involved in the community as a member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church in Athens, Georgia, and The Christian Women’s Club.

She loved working with kids, whether they were Sunday School students or her own children or grandkids. With creativity and planning, she made learning enjoyable for every priceless child. In addition, she demonstrated her artistic abilities via painting, ceramics, and photography.

She also volunteered as a docent at the University of Georgia art museum, where she spread her enthusiasm for art and culture to young people. In 1994, the University of Georgia awarded her a Bachelor of Science in Education, Summa Cum Laude. Robert Hewell Turner, Sr., her devoted spouse of 63 years, is leaving her behind. Her sisters Doris Castleberry of Ochlocknee, GA,

and Mary Shiver of Bonaire, GA, her brother Timothy Hartley of Cairo, GA, their son and daughter-in-law Robert (Bob) and Betsy Clark Turner of Flowery Branch, their daughter and son-in-law Glynis Lorraine and Robert (Bob) Habeck of Jefferson, and her two grandchildren Ashley Louise Habeck and Brian Cameron Habeck.

The funeral ceremony will take place at Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, East, 4355 Lexington Road, Athens, GA 30605 on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at 2 p.m. The public viewing will begin at 1:00 p.m. After the funeral, burial will take place in Athens, Georgia’s Oconee Hill Cemetery. The family requests that donations to The Alzheimer’s Association or Prince Avenue Baptist Church be made in place of flowers.
