A devastating two-vehicle collision on Louisiana Highway 13 near Gradney Lane early Thursday morning claimed the life of 20-year-old Kimberly Thomas from Ville Platte. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of seatbelt use and defensive driving practices.
According to the Louisiana State Police, Thomas was driving a 2013 Buick LaCrosse southbound when she attempted to execute a U-turn. At the same time, a 2013 Ford F-150, also traveling southbound, collided with the left side of her vehicle. Thomas, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Ford F-150 and a passenger in Thomas’ car, neither of whom were wearing seatbelts, were transported to a nearby hospital with injuries described as moderate to severe. The latest updates on their conditions have not been released.
As part of their standard investigative protocol, law enforcement officials collected routine toxicology samples from all involved parties. The investigation into the circumstances of the crash remains ongoing.
