James Michael Osmus obituary, death, 60, Tragically Loses Life in Bicycle Accident in Black Mountain Ranch Area: A Call to Action for Road Safety

A bicyclist who died in a crash on Friday in the Black Mountain Ranch area has been identified by local medical authorities as 60-year-old James Michael Osmus. The incident occurred around 7 p.m. when Osmus was riding his bicycle westbound in the designated bicycle lane along the 15700 block of Camino Del Sur.

During his ride, Osmus collided with a westbound Volkswagen sedan, driven by a 50-year-old woman, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office. Following the collision, the driver of the Volkswagen immediately called 911 and attempted to administer lifesaving measures to Osmus. Despite her efforts, first responders who arrived at the scene pronounced Osmus dead.

The medical examiner’s office classified the crash as accidental in nature. This incident underscores the importance of vigilance and safety for both cyclists and drivers sharing the road, as it highlights the devastating consequences of such collisions.
