KATHERIN BELLROCK OBITUARY: COMMUNITY MOURNS LOSS OF 49-YEAR-OLD ROCKFORD RESIDENT AFTER FATAL HIT-AND-RUN INCIDENT

A devastating hit-and-run incident in Rockford has claimed the life of 49-year-old Katherin Bellrock, leaving her family, friends, and the community in shock.

The Winnebago County Coroner’s Office has formally identified Bellrock as the victim in this tragic event, which occurred on Wednesday, October 30.

The incident unfolded when a passerby discovered Bellrock lying unresponsive on the ground near a sidewalk in the 1900 block of Charles Street. Emergency personnel responded swiftly, but despite their efforts, Bellrock’s injuries were beyond resuscitation. She was pronounced deceased at 12:42 a.m. by the Winnebago County Coroner’s Office.

An autopsy revealed that Bellrock succumbed to blunt force trauma to the head, consistent with a motor vehicle-pedestrian collision. The Winnebago County Coroner’s Office and the Rockford Police Department have launched a thorough investigation to determine how the crash occurred, gather evidence, and identify the individual responsible for the hit-and-run.
