Djakari Rashawn Pariani-Tompkins, a 29-year-old resident of San Rafael and Petaluma, tragically lost his life in a single-car accident in Marin County, California.
The incident occurred on Monday around 3:40 p.m. along the 5900 block of Point Reyes-Petaluma Road, near McEvoy Ranch, within Chileno Valley.
According to the county, Pariani-Tompkins was traveling west in a Ford Expedition when he lost control of the vehicle for reasons still under investigation.
The SUV veered off the roadway, rolling onto its roof, and Pariani-Tompkins, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was partially ejected from the vehicle, becoming trapped beneath it when it came to a stop.
He was found unresponsive and declared dead at the scene due to severe traumatic injuries.
A front-seat passenger, who was wearing a seatbelt, managed to escape the vehicle without assistance after the crash.
Following the incident, the medical examiner performed an autopsy, including standard toxicology tests, to help determine the exact cause of death.
The investigation into the accident is ongoing, led by the California Highway Patrol and the coroner’s office.
