“Vincent Jones Obituary, Death: 14-Year-Old Oak Ridge High School Student Succumbs to Injuries After Targeted Double Shooting in Orlando, Investigation Ongoing, Community Mourns Loss of Young Life, Grief Counselors Available at School, Second 14-Year-Old Victim Expected to Recover, Authorities Seek Tips in Solving Tragic Incident”

Vincent Jones, a 14-year-old student at Oak Ridge High School, tragically lost his life after being critically injured in a double shooting in Orlando on Wednesday.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Jones was taken to the hospital after the shooting on Huntington Green Court but succumbed to his injuries the following evening.

The incident has left the community in shock, with grief counselors now available at Oak Ridge High School to support students and staff affected by the tragedy.

Another 14-year-old, who was also injured in the same incident, arrived at the hospital later with a gunshot wound and is expected to recover from his injuries, according to the latest update on Friday.

Investigators believe the shooting was targeted, not a random act of violence, and are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Some community members speculate that young people’s involvement in gun violence may stem from the influences around them, with one young man commenting that some teens might try to fit in with older, armed individuals.

Serenity Dupriest, a local resident and parent, expressed sadness over the incident involving two young teens and emphasized her efforts to teach her own child that violence should never be a solution.

Dupriest voiced concern that many young people today may not know alternatives to handling conflicts without violence, highlighting the need for community support and resources.

The investigation into the shooting remains active, with no suspects disclosed at this time, and authorities are encouraging anyone with information about the incident to contact Crimeline at 800-423-8477.

As the community mourns the loss of Vincent Jones, there is a renewed call for solutions to address gun violence and support young people in finding positive paths forward.
