A tragic motorcycle accident occurred on Saturday night, resulting in the loss of life of 64-year-old Franklin William Novak of Fort Ashby. The Mineral County Sheriff’s Office identified Novak as the victim of the crash, which happened on state Route 28 near Siple’s Curve in Fort Ashby.

According to preliminary investigations, Novak was traveling southbound on Route 28 when he failed to navigate a right-hand curve, causing him to cross the highway and collide with the guardrail. This loss of control is believed to be the primary cause of the crash.

Novak was riding his Harley-Davidson Road Glide 3 motorcycle when the accident occurred at around 8:45 p.m. He was ejected from the motorcycle upon impact with the guardrail and suffered severe injuries.

Emergency responders, including West Virginia State Police and local volunteer fire and rescue units, arrived at the scene following a call to the Mineral County 911 emergency center. Despite their swift response and immediate assistance, Novak’s injuries were too severe for him to survive.
