Madelein Lopez-Resendiz Obituary, Death: Tragic Hit-and-Run Accident Claims Life of 25-Year-Old Pedestrian in Lexington County, Multiple Fatal Crashes Occur Across Midlands Over Weekend, Investigations Ongoing”

A tragic hit-and-run accident occurred on Saturday in Lexington County, claiming the life of 25-year-old Madelein Lopez-Resendiz. Lopez-Resendiz was struck and killed by a vehicle while walking on Hartley Quarter Road. The driver of the vehicle did not stop after hitting Lopez-Resendiz and fled the scene.

Authorities are actively searching for the driver responsible for the fatal hit-and-run. Investigators are seeking any information from the public that might help identify the driver who left the scene after the collision.

The incident has sparked calls for justice for Lopez-Resendiz and has left the community shaken. A vigil was held on Sunday evening to honor Lopez-Resendiz’s memory and demand justice for her family.

In addition to the hit-and-run accident, multiple fatal crashes occurred across the Midlands over the weekend. In Lexington County, a crash on Saturday morning claimed the life of 46-year-old Virginia Burtle. Burtle was driving when her vehicle collided head-on with another car.

The Lexington County Coroner’s Office identified Burtle as the victim of the head-on collision on South Lake Drive. While Burtle tragically lost her life, the driver of the other vehicle and two passengers in Burtle’s car were transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries.

The investigation into the cause of the accident is still ongoing as authorities work to piece together the events leading up to the collision. Later that same day, another tragic accident occurred in Lexington County.

A motorcyclist was killed after a truck entered Rudy Mason Parkway, where the motorcyclist, identified as 26-year-old Patrick Laorenzo, was riding. According to reports, the truck’s movement onto the parkway caused Laorenzo to collide with the vehicle.

Laorenzo was pronounced dead at the scene. Local authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the crash, and a toxicology analysis is pending to determine if any substances were involved in the crash.

In Orangeburg County, another deadly crash took place just after midnight on Sunday. A car traveling on I-26 near mile marker 141 veered off the right side of the road and overturned. The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, and authorities are working to determine whether factors such as speed, road conditions, or driver impairment contributed to the incident. All of these crashes are being investigated by the South Carolina Highway Patrol and local law enforcement agencies.
