Michael Gholson Obituary, Death: Hopewell Police Investigate Fatal Shooting on High Avenue
Michael Gholson, a 63-year-old resident of Hopewell, tragically lost his life due to injuries sustained in a shooting that occurred on September 22.
The incident took place around midnight on High Avenue, and officers responded to the 1200 block after receiving reports of multiple gunshots. Upon arrival, they discovered shell casings scattered on the road, indicating gunfire had occurred ¹.

Shortly after, police were dispatched to another location, the 200 block of East Broadway, where they found a second victim, a man lying in a hallway with a gunshot wound. Unlike the first victim, his injury was not considered life-threatening.
Emergency medical personnel arrived at the East Broadway location and transported the victim to a nearby hospital for further medical care. Police later determined that both men were connected to the shooting on High Avenue.
The two victims were identified as Michael Gholson and 67-year-old Reginald Wyche, also of Hopewell. Both men had sustained gunshot wounds from the same incident.
Sadly, Michael Gholson succumbed to his injuries and passed away on Wednesday, October 9. The Hopewell Police Department is investigating the shooting as a homicide.
