Kenneth D. Swartzentruber, a Remarkable Young Man and Student, Passes Away at 18, Leaving a Legacy of Leadership, Faith, and Compassion

Kenneth D. Swartzentruber, an exceptional young man and student, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, in Ruscombmanor Township, PA, at the tender age of 18. Kenneth was a senior at the Berks Career & Technology Centre in Oley and Lighthouse Christian Academy in Lyons, where he demonstrated remarkable leadership skills and a strong faith that guided him in his love and care for others.

Kenneth was a member of New Life Bible Fellowship in Oley, PA, and Pine Grove Community Church in Pine Grove, PA, where he actively practiced his faith and demonstrated his compassion for others. He was also employed as a server at Bear Creek Mountain Resort, where he was recognized as the employee of the month in January, showcasing his exceptional work ethic and dedication.

As a Cabinetry & Wood Technology student at the Berks Career and Technology Centre, Kenneth possessed exceptional skills and was an invaluable member of the student-built house project team. He was also a member of the Restoring Hope of Berks County home renovations team and provided assistance with live-work projects for the program. Kenneth’s leadership skills and commitment to his craft were evident in his involvement with the SkillsUSA student organization, where he served as an officer and competitor.

Kenneth’s academic achievements were impressive, and he was a Student Ambassador for the school and a member of the National Technical Honour Society. He exemplified leadership and offered mentorship to his peers, demonstrating a remarkable ability to balance his academic responsibilities with his extracurricular activities.

Kenneth’s faith was a central part of his life, and he often expressed his desire to prioritize the well-being of others and put himself last. His selflessness and compassion for others were inspiring, and his legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched.

In addition to his academic and professional pursuits, Kenneth was an avid competitor who enjoyed playing ping pong, soccer, volleyball, and basketball. He achieved the top spot in the ACE Mid-Atlantic Regional Competition for ping pong for three consecutive years, showcasing his exceptional skills and dedication.

Kenneth was also a devoted companion and family member, and his passion for music was evident in his talent for playing the flute and piano. His love for life was infectious, and his enthusiasm inspired those around him.
