Scott Johnson Death: Beloved Community Advocate and Humanitarian Passes Away, Leaving Behind a Legacy of Compassion and Service
Scott Johnson, a devoted supporter, closest friend, spouse, and father, is mourned by the community after his recent passing on 9/9/2024. His departure has left a void in the lives of those who knew him, and his legacy of altruistic service and compassion will be deeply missed.
Scott dedicated the last decade of his life to assisting those in need, often at the expense of his personal life. Through his nonprofit organization, Assisting Your Life to Achieve (AYLA Inc.), he provided emergency relief, including food, clothing, and furniture, and facilitated fitness and mental health programs.
His initiatives had a profound impact on the lives of countless individuals, including the establishment of the first adolescent LGBTQI hostel accommodation, providing employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities, organizing art therapy groups, and assisting prisoners in their reintegration into society.
Scott’s commitment to helping others was motivated by his personal experiences of being marginalized and encountering obstacles. Despite these challenges, he accomplished extraordinary feats throughout his 40-year career, consistently maintaining an open-hearted perspective.
Rebecca Roach, his closest companion of nearly three decades, described him as her “one constant” and expressed profound gratitude and affection for him. Unfortunately, Scott passed away without life insurance or funeral coverage, leaving his family to grapple with the financial burden of paying for his funeral.
Rebecca Roach has initiated a fundraiser to ensure that Scott receives a fitting farewell. To date, she has raised $290 AUD of the $13,000 target. The community is encouraged to contribute to support the bereaved family and honor Scott’s memory.
