Miguel Arriaga, Victor A. Garcia Obituary, Death – Seven Victims Identified in Mississippi Bus Crash
The seven victims who tragically lost their lives in a bus crash in Mississippi have been identified by authorities.
The devastating incident took place on Interstate 20 near Bovina in the early hours of Saturday, August 31, at approximately 12:40 a.m.
The bus, operated by Autobuses Regiomontanos, was en route from Atlanta, Georgia, to Dallas, Texas, when it veered off the roadway and overturned.
The bus involved in the accident was a 2018 Volvo commercial passenger vehicle.
The circumstances leading to the crash remain under investigation, but the bus left the westbound lanes of I-20 before overturning, resulting in the deaths of seven passengers.
Six of the victims were pronounced dead at the scene, while the seventh succumbed to their injuries at Merit Health River Region in Vicksburg.
In addition to the fatalities, numerous other passengers sustained injuries and were transported to hospitals in Vicksburg and Jackson for treatment.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol identified the victims as Miguel Arriaga, 61, from Mexico; Victor A. Garcia, 32, from Mexico; Moises A. Garcia, 31, from Mexico; Kain Gutierrez, 8, from Mexico; Perla Gutierrez, 16, from Mexico; Elia Guzman, 63, from Mexico; and Angelica Palomino, 16, from Mexico.
The loss of life has deeply affected the community, and the authorities are working to understand the full scope of the incident.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has dispatched a team to Mississippi to conduct a thorough investigation.
