Emmanuel Merriweather Death – Tragic Drowning Incident at Riverwalk Marina Claims Life of 24-Year-Old Emmanuel Merriweather
Decatur officials have confirmed the identity of the individual who drowned at Riverwalk Marina on Sunday.
According to Limestone County Coroner Mike West, the deceased has been identified as 24-year-old Emmanuel Merriweather.
Coroner West reported that Merriweather was recovered from the water and was pronounced dead shortly after 7:30 a.m. on Sunday.
The incident occurred when two men entered the water, but only one of them surfaced.
Decatur Police were alerted to the situation at around 6:25 a.m. after receiving a report about a missing person at the marina.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a man struggling in the water and immediately initiated a rescue operation.
Tragically, despite the efforts of the responders, Merriweather was pronounced dead at the scene.
The circumstances surrounding the incident are currently under investigation, with authorities working to determine the events leading up to the drowning.
