Christian Whalen Obituary, Death – Tragic Shooting at Party in Spotsylvania Claims Life of 19-Year-Old Christian Whalen
Early Sunday morning, a 19-year-old was fatally shot in Spotsylvania, according to local police.
At approximately 1:00 a.m. on September 1, Spotsylvania Police were dispatched to the 14600 block of Spotswood Furnace Road in response to a report of a shooting.
The incident occurred at a party where a large group had gathered on private property owned by Spotsylvania County.
Christian Whalen, 19, was attempting to intervene in a fight when he was shot in the leg.
He was transported to a nearby hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
Police have identified 18-year-old Kenneth Watson from Caroline as the individual who fired the shot that killed Whalen.
Watson has been charged with homicide and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
He is currently being held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
The investigation into the shooting is still ongoing, with police continuing to gather information.
