Zahquan Thyzee Obituary, Death – Tragic Incident in Laurinburg Claims Life of 18-Year-Old
A devastating incident occurred in Laurinburg on the evening of August 15, resulting in the death of 18-year-old Zahquan Thyzee Stewart and leaving two younger boys critically injured.
The events unfolded around 8:00 pm at the intersection of Deluca and Berry Streets, where officers responded to reports of gunshots fired.
Upon arrival, law enforcement personnel found a 14-year-old boy lying beside the road, disoriented and uncertain if he had been shot.
Further investigation led to the discovery of a second male victim, identified as Zahquan Thyzee Stewart, who was found deceased in the underbrush adjacent to a crashed all-terrain vehicle (ATV).
The ATV had collided violently with a tree, causing the vehicle to become lodged and the surrounding area to be disrupted.
A third victim, a 13-year-old boy, was also found with a gunshot wound and was promptly transported to Scotland Memorial Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
The incident suggests that the three young males were riding together on an ATV when they encountered two other individuals who initiated an attack by opening fire on the ATV occupants.
The exchange of gunfire and the ensuing chaos caused Zahquan Thyzee Stewart to lose control of the ATV, leading to the vehicle veering off the road and colliding with a nearby tree, resulting in his untimely death.
