Woodie Dixon Death: Woodie Mitchel Dixon, a Devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Servant of the Community, Passes Away at 72, Leaving a Lasting Legacy of Love, Faith, and Dedication.

Woodie Mitchel Dixon, age 72, passed away on August 1, 2024. He was a man who cherished the simple pleasures in life, finding joy in barbecuing, playing softball, and most importantly, spending quality time with his grandsons. Whether it was picking weeds or engaging in any activity they wished to do, Woodie’s dedication to his family was evident.

Woodie and his beloved wife, Margaret, first crossed paths at horse shows in 1971, where they participated in various categories, including timed events, halter, and roping. Their shared passion for equestrian activities marked the beginning of a beautiful journey together.

For 52 years, Woodie served as an inside machinist at Southern Fastener and Parkway Machine and Metal Works. His commitment to his work was a testament to his strong work ethic and dedication. Beyond his professional life, Woodie made a significant impact on his community through his role as a Sunday school teacher at Refuge Methodist Church and First Church of Lucedale for over 50 years. His profound knowledge of scripture inspired countless individuals.

Woodie was known for his humility, kindness, and servant heart. He touched the lives of many and was a source of support and encouragement to all who had the honor of knowing him. His gentle spirit and unwavering faith will be greatly missed.

Woodie was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred “Pete” and Thellis Lewis Dixon. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Margaret Dixon; children, Daniel (Erin) Dixon and Carmen (Mike) Johnson; and grandchildren, Ladner Davis (Mallory Rich), Taite Davis, Finn Dixon, and Jonah Dixon. He is also survived by his siblings, Al (Barbara) Dixon and Deborah Howell, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will cherish his memory.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at First Church of Lucedale from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 7:00 PM. The service will be officiated by Bro. David Newton, Bro. Brian Scott, and Bro. Dean Box. A private burial will take place at Refuge Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Derrick Scott, Hank Cochran, Ronnie Miller, Garth Parnell, Eric Hill, and Phillip Cochran. Honorary pallbearers are Paul Stanley, Tom Parker, George McIntosh, Jimmy Davis, and Frank Cochran.

Moments Funeral Home, locally owned and operated, is honored to assist with the arrangements. Woodie Mitchel Dixon’s legacy of love, service, and faith will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched. His memory will live on in the stories shared and the lives he impacted throughout his remarkable journey.

As we bid farewell to Woodie, we remember his infectious smile, his kind heart, and his unwavering commitment to his family and community. His absence will be felt for years to come, but his impact on our lives will never be forgotten.
