Dorothy M. Jennings, a cherished native and lifelong resident of Thibodaux, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2024, at the age of 96. Her long life was a testament to love, dedication, and family.
A visitation in Dorothy’s honor will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church in Thibodaux, Louisiana, from 9:00 am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Following the mass, Dorothy will be laid to rest in St. Joseph Cemetery, Thibodaux, Louisiana.
Dorothy is survived by her loving daughters, Jessica Martin (Dean Sr.) and Jennifer LeBouef (Robie Sr.). She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Dean Paul (Sarah), Chrissie (Eric), Christopher (Trish), Robie Jr. (Meghan), and Amy (Cody), as well as great-grandchildren Joleigh, George “Sonny”, Chelsea, Eastyn, Aly, Blaze, Harley, Charlee, Jesse, and Zane. Dorothy’s legacy extends to numerous nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jesse J. Jennings; her son, Jesse Jennings Jr.; her parents, Nelson and Elma Melancon; her brothers, Joseph, Nelson Jr., Hubert, Iry, and Ivy; her sisters, Mary, Ruby, and Lorraine; and three great-grandchildren, her “three great grand angels.”
Dorothy’s life was defined by the love and care she showed to her family. She was a guiding light and a source of unconditional love. Her family and friends will deeply miss her presence and her kind spirit.
