Alejandro Bernal-Lozano, a 25-year-old man from Red Bluff, has been identified by the Glenn County Coroner as the victim of a fatal pedestrian accident that occurred on Monday night on Interstate 5 in Glenn County.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), Bernal-Lozano was walking in the fast lane of Interstate 5 southbound, south of County Road 39, around 11:30 p.m. on Monday night. As he crossed the freeway, he was struck by a Volkswagen driven by Jamey Phillips, 28, of Willows.

Subsequently, Bernal-Lozano was also hit by a Honda driven by Vignesh Pandiarajan and a Peterbilt driven by Maricela Sanchez. Despite efforts to save him, Bernal-Lozano tragically lost his life due to the injuries sustained in the accident.

The CHP has stated that drugs and alcohol are not believed to have played a role in the drivers’ involvement in the accident. However, the potential drug or alcohol impairment of Bernal-Lozano remains unknown at this time.
