Makena Lyn Doane, a vibrant and adventurous 25-year-old, unexpectedly passed away at her home on Monday, July 29, 2024, alongside her beloved daughter, Jensyn Mae Doane. Born on March 21, 1999, in Wellsboro, Makena was the daughter of Tonya S. Fousnought-Carleton and Terry L. Carleton.
Makena was a proud stay-at-home mother to her two young boys, and her love for them knew no bounds. She was a free spirit who enjoyed being outdoors, riding her Razor, and kayaking. Her adventurous nature and infectious laugh made her a bright spot for everyone around her.
After graduating from PA Cyber School in 2017, Makena worked as a server and bartender at the Wellsboro Moose Lodge. However, her true passion was being a mother, and she cherished every moment spent with her children.
Makena’s maternal grandparents, George and Wilda Carleton, passed away before her. She is survived by her parents, Tonya and Terry, and her two young boys, Tyson Raige Carleton and Watson Murphy Doane.
A Celebration of Makena’s Life will be held on Saturday, August 3, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at Carleton Funeral Home, 11470 Route 6, Wellsboro. A memory-sharing period will take place at 3:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to individual accounts set up for Makena’s sons, Tyson Raige Carleton and Watson Murphy Doane, at Edward Jones, located at 23 East Avenue in Wellsboro. Donations can be made by sending a check made out to either of the boys or by dropping off a donation at the Wellsboro Edward Jones office.
