Clemendina M. Gaylor, a 65-year-old resident of Portville, tragically lost her life in a devastating two-vehicle collision that occurred on Monday afternoon at 4:09 p.m. at the intersection of Route 417 and Fischer Lane.
The New York State Police have confirmed that Gaylor was driving a 2014 Kia, which collided with a 2008 Dodge traveling eastbound on Route 417, resulting in fatal injuries to Gaylor.
The driver of the Dodge, along with a passenger, were transported to Olean General Hospital and reported to be in stable condition, while Gaylor succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
The NYSP Collision Reconstruction Unit and the Bureau of Criminal Investigation assisted in the investigation, which is ongoing, and no charges have been filed at this time.
The Portville Engine Company No. 1, Westons Mills, and Bolivar fire crews, as well as Trans Am ambulance, responded to the scene, where they worked tirelessly to rescue those involved and reconstruct the crash.
Route 417 was closed for approximately five hours to facilitate rescue efforts and crash reconstruction, causing significant disruptions to traffic in the area.
