Theodore Joseph “TJ” Chrystie obituary, death, a Devoted Husband, Father, and Friend, Passes Away Unexpectedly at 34, Leaving Behind a Legacy of Love, Laughter, and Adventure.
Theodore Joseph Chrystie, known affectionately as “TJ,” passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at Wynn Hospital, surrounded by his loving wife Courtney and family. Born on March 21, 1990, in Utica, TJ was a shining star in the lives of everyone he touched.
TJ grew up in Utica and graduated from Proctor High School in 2008, where he excelled in football and baseball. He pursued general studies at MVCC in Utica and later worked as a mason for Lupini Construction Co. in Trenton, NY. TJ’s passion for adventure led him to restore the masonry work at Bolt Castle on the St. Lawrence River in Alexandria Bay, NY.
TJ married the love of his life, Courtney M. Schoff, on December 31, 2020, in Boonville, New York. They lived in Constableville before moving to their current home near Brantingham. TJ was a dedicated member of IBEW #1249 in Syracuse, NY, and a board member of the Boonville Little League Baseball. He coached the South Lewis Youth Softball teams and was an avid softball player, competing in games and tournaments along the east coast.
TJ’s love for his family was unwavering, and his children, Izabel and Caysen, were his world. He is survived by his wife, Courtney; children; parents, Donald and Rowena; sister, Nicole; niece, Paisley; in-laws; brother-in-law; maternal grandmother-in-law; and lifelong friends, Matthew and Michael.
Calling hours will be from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 21, at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., in Boonville, with a ceremony beginning at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider making a monetary gift to Izabel’s future education.
TJ’s legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched, and his memory will be cherished by all who knew him. His love, laughter, and adventure will never be forgotten. Rest in peace, TJ. Your life was a blessing to those who knew you, and your memory will never fade.
