John Lavelle obituary, a Devoted Family Man and Dedicated Community Leader, Passes Away at 67, Leaving Behind a Legacy of Love, Support, and Enduring Memories.

John Lavelle, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and pillar of the Spotswood community, passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at the age of 67, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. Born in Elmhurst, New York, to John and Elizabeth (née Manning) Lavelle, John spent his early years in Laurelton, New York, before moving to Spotswood 33 years ago.

John spent over three decades working as a Supervisor for AT&T in New York and New Jersey, dedicating himself to his work and providing for his family. In his free time, he cherished moments with his large family, coaching his children in soccer and little league, and later spending quality time with his nine grandchildren. John was a loyal fan of the New York Yankees and Jets and enjoyed Mountain Dew.

A devoted member of the Spotswood community, John was involved with various organizations, including the Spotswood Soccer Club, Spotswood Little League, Knights of Columbus, Elk’s Club in Jamesburg, and the Polish American Club, serving as Treasurer. He also served as Vice President of the Spotswood Board of Education for many years, demonstrating his commitment to education and community service.

John is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Kathleen (Kathy) Lavelle (née Villante); his children, Susan, John, Matthew, and Kaitlyn; his grandchildren, Blake, Emily, Peyton, Morgan, Ryan, Olivia, Harper, Charlotte, and Easton; siblings, Jean, Elizabeth, Ellen, and William; and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may visit on Sunday, July 21, 2024, from 12:00 to 3:00 pm and 4:00 to 7:00 pm, at The BRUNSWICK MEMORIAL HOME, 454 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 22nd, at 9:45 am, at the funeral home, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am at Immaculate Conception Church in Spotswood. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Burial Park in South Brunswick.

John’s passing leaves a void in the lives of those who knew and loved him, but his legacy of love, support, and dedication to his family and community will endure. His memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
