Jim Engel Death: Former Flower Mound Town Council Member Jim Engel Passes Away After Pancreatic Cancer Diagnosis, Leaving Behind a Legacy of Service and Dedication.
The Flower Mound community is mourning the loss of former Town Council member Jim Engel, who passed away this week following a recent pancreatic cancer diagnosis. Jim’s dedication to the community left a lasting impact, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Jim served with distinction on the Flower Mound Town Council for six years, starting in 2018. Even after completing his term due to term limits in May 2024, Jim continued to be an active member of the community. His commitment to public service extended beyond Town Council; he also contributed his time to the Board of Adjustments/Oil and Gas Appeals Board.
Jim was a graduate of the Flower Mound Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Course, the Flower Mound Citizen’s Academy, and the Flower Mound Citizen’s Police Academy. He was a dedicated member of the Flower Mound Citizen’s Police Safety Patrol and served as the past president of the Pecan Meadows HOA.
Jim’s passion for the town was evident in everything he did, and his love for the community was infectious. In honor of Jim’s memory, Town flags will be flown at half-staff at all Town facilities starting tomorrow and continuing through the weekend.
Jim’s family will receive friends and loved ones at his viewing tomorrow, July 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Flower Mound Family Funeral Home located at 3550 Firewheel Dr. This will be an opportunity for the community to pay their respects and celebrate Jim’s life.
In lieu of flowers, Jim’s family has requested donations to (link unavailable), an organization dedicated to advancing research on early pancreatic cancer detection. Contributions in Jim’s honor will support efforts to improve outcomes for future patients.
