On Saturday, July 6, 2024, Rebecca Ann “Becky” Hildebrand, aged 77, peacefully passed away at Fairfield Memorial Hospital, leaving behind a legacy of love and compassion. Becky was born on April 22, 1947, in Mt. Vernon, IL, to Viril and Genevieve Cunningham. She met Larry Hildebrand during high school in Clay City, IL, and they married on June 6, 1964. Together, they enjoyed 52 cherished years until Larry’s passing in 2016.

Becky and Larry ventured across the country to Washington D.C. and Los Angeles before returning to Fairfield, where they raised their family in her ancestral home built in the 1870s. Becky dedicated herself to her sons Bryan and Lee, actively supporting their education, sports, and church activities while managing various jobs and maintaining a welcoming household.

An active member of the First Christian Church in Fairfield, Becky exemplified compassion and faith in her daily life. She was known for her exceptional cooking, love of gardening, and appreciation for nature and the mountains. Her infectious laugh, warm smile, and reassuring presence endeared her to all who knew her.

Becky is survived by her sons Bryan (Laura) Hildebrand of Fort Collins, CO, and Lee (Cara) Hildebrand of Cookeville, TN, grandsons Theron and Cyrus Hildebrand, sister Linda Lou Cheatham of Sarasota, FL, brother-in-law Terry (Alvena) Hildebrand of Louisville, IL, and sisters-in-law Jackie Farris of Olney and Betty Sue (Jeff) Clow of Effingham. She was preceded in death by her husband Larry, parents Viril and Genevieve Cunningham, sister Janet Stark, and brother Gene Cunningham.

In accordance with Becky’s wishes, her body will be cremated. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 13th, at 12:00 PM at the First Christian Church in Fairfield, with visitation starting at 11:00 AM. Memorial donations may be made to the Feed My Sheep soup kitchen, accepted during the services or at Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home, overseeing arrangements.
