Janet L. Baker, a 62-year-old resident of Clarence, Missouri, has tragically suffered severe injuries in a devastating accident on Highway 36. The incident occurred on July 8, 2024, at approximately 7:55 a.m., half a mile east of Lentner, leaving her family and community in shock and prayer.

According to the accident report, Janet L. Baker was operating a 2004 Buick Rendezvous, heading eastward on Highway 36, when the vehicle drifted off the right side of the road. The car overturned into a ditch and became partially submerged in water, resulting in severe injuries to Baker. Fortunately, she was wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol, in collaboration with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department and the Shelbina Fire Department, promptly responded to the scene. Baker was airlifted by MU4 helicopter to University Hospital in Columbia for medical attention. The Buick Rendezvous was deemed a complete loss and was towed by Shelbyville Auto Parts.

Trooper Fuller, Corporal Lewis from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department, and the Shelbina Fire Department were present at the scene to provide assistance. The incident is currently under investigation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
