The fatal crash occurred just before 8 p.m. in the 4800 block of Upper Fairfield Township, where Kathleen and her husband were traveling north. A Jeep driver heading in the opposite direction attempted to overtake another vehicle, veering into the McFadden’s lane and causing a nearly head-on collision.

Lycoming County Coroner Charles Kiessling reported that Kathleen’s husband was transported to UPMC Susquehana Williamsport Hospital and later transferred to the trauma center at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. The driver and passenger of the Jeep were assessed by EMS at the scene and found to be unharmed.
