Margie Watkins Obituary, – The individual responsible for the shooting of three women in Pittsylvania County on June 22 is now facing a first-degree murder charge following the tragic death of one of the victims. According to authorities, the incident occurred on Saturday afternoon when a witness observed a man wielding an axe and a gun, forcefully entering a residence on Sandy River Road. The man in question has been identified as Telvin Hairston. A relative informed ABC13 that the shooting arose from a dispute regarding the custody of Hairston’s children, whom he had fathered with one of the victims involved. Within the home, three individuals were struck by gunfire, including 82-year-old Margie Watkins, who was the grandmother of the other two victims, Keyana Rikale Martin and Kierra Risheena Phillips. Tragically, Margie succumbed to her injuries. Joseph Watkins, Margie’s nephew, shared, “She always expressed her willingness to protect her grandchildren, even if it meant sacrificing her own life. She remained steadfast in her commitment, and she ultimately fulfilled her promise.” Hairston’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 17.
