Frederick Roger Barber Death, a loving father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on June 9, 2024, at 1:15 a.m. at Esther’s House, Center for Hospice Care, in Elkhart, Indiana, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and dedication.

Frederick Roger Barber Death, a loving father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on June 9, 2024, at 1:15 a.m. at Esther’s House, Center for Hospice Care, in Elkhart, Indiana, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and dedication.

Born on September 24, 1940, Fred was a 1958 alumnus of Mishawaka High School and spent six years in the US Army Reserve. He lived in Granger, Indiana, and worked for Dodge Manufacturing for twenty years, but his true passion was being an independent auto dealer.

Fred’s love for cars was evident in his collection of antique vehicles, particularly the Chevy Corvette, which he cherished. He spent countless hours fixing engines, planting rose bushes, and negotiating prices at garage sales, on his car lot, and even at the neighborhood KFC. His loyal dog, Mazie, was always by his side.

Fred’s family was his pride and joy, and he is survived by his two daughters, Melissa (Jeff) Rodino of Bristol, IN, and Angela Brown of Elkhart, IN, as well as four grandchildren, Cory (Casey), Kayla, Garrett, and Gabe, and three great-grandchildren. His parents, Carroll and Dorothy Barber, and sister, Nancy Bice, predeceased him.

Fred’s passing has left a void in the lives of those who knew him, but his memory will continue to inspire kindness, compassion, and love. His family and friends will always remember his warm smile, his infectious laughter, and his unwavering dedication to those he loved.

In lieu of services, Fred’s family requests donations to Homeward Bound Animal Welfare Group or Esther’s House (Center for Hospice Care) in his honor. His love for animals and his appreciation for the care provided by Esther’s House will never be forgotten.

Fred’s life may have been cut short, but his impact on the lives of those around him will never be forgotten. His memory will be a blessing to all who knew him, and his love and kindness will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known him.

The family will always treasure the time they spent with Fred, and his memory will continue to be celebrated through the countless lives he touched. Frederick Roger Barber may be gone, but his love, kindness, and compassion will never be forgotten.
