Jackson Fendley Obituary – A Virginia Tech student, Jackson Fendley, was tragically identified as the victim of a boating accident that occurred last week. The incident took place at Lake Gaston on Friday night when the boat he was on hit a dock.
Fendley, who was only 19 years old, passed away on June 22 due to injuries sustained in the crash, just two days before his birthday. Born in Harrisonburg, he was pursuing studies in neuroscience and music at Virginia Tech.
Fendley was described as an enthusiastic outdoorsman who found joy in observing the stars, sunrises, and sunsets. He had a passion for activities like hiking, skiing, and tennis. Additionally, he was a skilled musician who could effortlessly share the perfect song with friends.
His musical talents included playing classical guitar and learning rock songs by ear. Fendley had a special connection with animals, and they were naturally drawn to him. Above all, he cherished his friends and family deeply.
The boat operator was treated for injuries at a hospital and later released, while the other passenger escaped unharmed.
An investigation is currently ongoing, and charges are pending as per the investigators. A memorial service to honor Fendley’s life will be held on Sunday, June 30, at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Harrisonburg.
