A man from Greenville was apprehended by U.S. Marshals on Tuesday morning in connection with a shooting incident at a hotel on June 19. The suspect, Eric Davis Jr., 26, was arrested in Asheville by the U.S. Marshals Carolina’s Fugitive Taskforce.
Alongside his father, Eric Davis Sr., 44, Davis Jr. is accused of the shooting death of Rogers Treyvond Robinson, 22, at the Woodspring Suites hotel located at 64 Orchard Park Drive.
According to Sgt. Diana Munoz of the Greenville Police, the shooting occurred around 12:30 a.m. following a altercation between the individuals involved. Upon arrival at the hotel, GPD officers discovered Robinson with multiple gunshot wounds.
He was subsequently transported to Greenville Memorial Hospital by ambulance, where he was pronounced dead at 1:47 a.m. Detectives from the GPD identified Davis Sr. as a person of interest and took him into custody on the same night.
Arrest warrants reveal that GPD detectives obtained security footage which captured a silver Toyota Camry, belonging to Davis Sr., leaving the hotel premises prior to the shooting.
The warrant states that Davis Sr. drove his son to and from the hotel, and even warned bystanders to vacate the area before the incident occurred. Davis Sr. also admitted to driving a vehicle that matched the one seen in the security footage.
The warrant further describes the security footage showing Davis Jr. walking in the hotel parking lot with an unidentified third person.
However, formal charges have not yet been filed against this individual. Davis Sr. is currently facing charges of being an accessory before the fact to a felony.
Davis Jr. is being charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. He is currently awaiting extradition back to South Carolina.
