Muhammad Hussain, a 60-year-old man from Carrollton, and Gopi Krishna Dasari, a 32-year-old man, were tragically killed in two separate shooting incidents at gas stations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The devastating events occurred on Thursday and Saturday, respectively, and have been linked to the same individual, 21-year-old Davonta Mathis from Waco.

On Thursday, at approximately 11:05 p.m., Mesquite police responded to a shooting at a gas station on West Bruton Road, where Hussain was found with multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Surveillance footage provided crucial details about the suspect’s vehicle, leading to a breakthrough in the investigation.

Just two days later, on Saturday, around 12:30 a.m., Dallas police were called to a shooting at another gas station on Lake June Road. Mathis entered the store, approached the counter, and shot Dasari, who was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition and passed away the following day. After both incidents, Mathis allegedly stole items and attempted to access the cash registers before fleeing the scene.

Shortly after the Dallas incident, a Mesquite officer spotted the suspect’s vehicle and initiated a pursuit. Mathis was apprehended following the chase and initially charged with evading arrest with a vehicle. Further investigation linked Mathis to the murders of Hussain and Dasari, resulting in an upgraded charge of murder from robbery.

Both police departments have emphasized that the investigations are ongoing and have encouraged anyone with additional information to come forward. The community is shocked and saddened by the senseless killings, and the victims’ families are receiving support and condolences.
