A 48-year-old man who was killed in a hit-and-run during the daytime has been identified by his family. Toronto police will provide an update on the investigation later this morning.
At around 5 a.m. on June 6, authorities were informed about a pedestrian being struck in the Roncesvalles Avenue area near Parkside Drive and Bloor Street West.
According to investigators, the man was hit by a dark-coloured Volkswagen GTI traveling southbound on Roncesvalles. The vehicle did not stop at the scene and was last spotted heading westbound on Howard Park Avenue.
Tragically, the man was pronounced dead at the location of the incident. Following consent from the family, the victim has been identified as Stuart Costigan, a 48-year-old resident of Toronto.
His photograph has been made public. Detective Aaron Swaine from the Toronto Police Services will address the media during a press conference scheduled for 10:30 a.m.
