Sterling Walsh, a 29-year-old math teacher, tennis coach, and music lover, passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Gunderson Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse, surrounded by his loved ones. Born on October 21, 1994, at Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital to Dean and Joanne (Vertein) Walsh, Sterling’s life was a testament to his passion for teaching, sports, and music.
Sterling’s academic achievements were impressive, graduating from Sauk Prairie High School in 2013 and the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh, with a BA in education. He was a four-year letter winner in tennis, rated #1 in singles, and captain of the team.
His love for math and teaching led him to become a math teacher at Mauston High School, where he also served as the advisor for the school math team and assistant coach for the boys’ and girls’ tennis teams.
